Getting Started with KChat
Transcript
(00:03) In this tutorial, we will cover how to sign in, set up, and start using KChat. To access KChat, open the Products section and click KChat. You will see a button under the KChat description that takes you to the KChat website. You can also go directly to the KChat site to sign in. Registration is not required.
(00:36) Use your Kurator account ID, email, and password to sign in to KChat. After you log in, you will see a free trial so you can test how it works. Free trials do not auto‑renew. You get 20 responses, you can upload one knowledge base, create one chatbot, and retrain it once.
(01:08) To get started, first upload a knowledge base from Curator. Your knowledge base is limited to 100,000 tokens, which accommodates a large number of Curator posts. I have created an export file with the content needed to sync Curator to KChat.
(01:39) This file is called “Optimal Access.” I added my tutorials, which are YouTube videos with full transcripts attached to each Kurator post. You need the content in each post because KChat uses it to generate answers. To add this knowledge base to KChat, click the three dots in Curator and copy the Sync Link.
(02:14) After copying the link, go to KChat and choose Add knowledge base. Name it “Optimal Access,” paste the sync link, and add a URL. If you plan to use your KBucket WordPress content gallery as a landing page, add that URL. If you want to point directly to the original content, add your website URL. Then create the knowledge base.
(02:57) After the knowledge base is created, you can build a chatbot. Notice that KChat shows the number of tokens used against your quota. Since you still have one retrain available, you can add more posts and retrain once more while staying within your quota.
(03:22) Next, open Settings to create your chatbot. Click Add chatbot. Choose a name. A temperature of 0.3 is generally recommended, though you can adjust it. Then select an LLM. Different LLMs may consume different numbers of tokens; we will publish a comparison list on our website.
(03:51) Select the knowledge base associated with this chatbot. Then choose the outbound link behavior. Each answer is generated with citations to the source. You can have the link open the KBucket landing page or go directly to the source document. I will use the source URL option.
(04:18) KChat provides a default system prompt that you can modify. You can also add alternate prompts. We will review prompt options later. For now, click Create chatbot. The new chatbot is created. To see it, refresh the page. After refreshing, you will see the KChat chatbot listed.
(04:48) Now let’s customize it and interact with it. With KChat, you can customize the look and feel and set the opening message that appears in your chatbot. Go to Settings, select your KChat, and choose Chatbot appearance. Pick a color theme. I will choose red. Set the opening message to “Ask me about Optimal Access products,” then click Update chatbot.
(05:24) Return to KChat and you will see the updated color and opening message. Next, test how responses work in KChat. Your responses are governed by the system prompt you set in KChat. There is a default prompt, but you can create new ones. For this demo, we want comprehensive answers of 80 words or fewer, based only on the provided context. That means the model should only use your knowledge base.
(05:58) Ask a question such as “How can I set up my OpenAI prompts?” KChat will look at the context and generate the answer, for example directing you to the Open screen in Curator, and include a link to the source it used.
(06:33) KChat shows the citation with a reference number and a timestamp indicating where in the source the answer came from. Clicking the link opens the source page, such as the YouTube video on its YouTube page.
(07:00) If you have a KBucket WordPress site or plugin, you can also use KBucket as a landing page to host your content. Choose the WordPress popup link option and update the setting. Then ask the same question, for example “How can I set up my OpenAI access?” KChat will generate a similar answer.
(07:39) This time, clicking the link opens your KBucket page and plays the video directly on your website. The answer content is generated from the descriptions you added in Curator.
(08:11) KChat provides an analytics dashboard where you can see the number of responses and other usage metrics based on your plan. Under Chat logs, you will find the questions and answers from your conversations. We currently offer three plans. You can subscribe, upgrade your KChat, and deploy it on your website, or use it personally for research. Explore the other demos and tutorials to learn more about KChat, prompt setup, and the rest of the app.
